Katcha got her Local government in the Year 1996, during the regime of Late Gen. Sani Abacha. Katcha Local Government area of Niger state has her headquater at Katcha town. The town people who are mostly gov't workers and specialist in vocational activities, such as Fishing, Mechanic, Tailoring, Farming and above all are computer literate. Katcha local Gov't has Baddegi, Kata'eregi as one of her major towns. With Baddegi located at A124 high way in the west area. It has an area of 1,681 km² and a population of about 122, 176 as at 2006 cencus.her post code is 912 Her people are well known to be Hard working, Dedicated and above all Educated. the leaders of the LGA are mostly from the rulling Party of Nigeria. THE GREAT PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP) Her people are governed by good samaritans normally elected by the people.
